La Vie en Rosé

"Quand il me prend dans ses bras
Il me parle tout bas
Je vois la vie en rose”

Edith Piaf

I first learned about the movie La Vie en Rose when Marion Cotillard won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2007. When I sat down to watch the movie, I was blown away by Cotillard’s performance and physical transformation. La Vie en Rose is the biopic of the French singer Edith Piaf, and she is known for singing La Vie en Rose. I often have this song on repeat, especially when cooking, and the movie is an eye-opening look into her fascinating life.

For this cocktail, I was obviously inspired by roses. I froze a small rose in an ice cube, and it just looks so delicate and pretty floating in this sparkling cocktail. Since we’re coming up on summer, rosé was a natural pick, and I love how pink this beverage is. I made a homemade ginger syrup to mix in with the rosé, gin, and lemon, and all the flavors together will have you singing all summer long.
